Microtainer Contact-Activated Lancets from BD are used for the fingerstick collection of blood. They only trigger when placed and pressed against the skin, producing a consistent puncture depth for easier sampling. Fingersticks should not be performed on children less than 1 year of age (according to CLSI guidelines).
